Timeless
Today's the 50th anniversary of the death of pop culture and movie icon, Marilyn Monroe. From her blonde bombshell classics ("Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," "Seven Year Itch," and "Some Like It Hot") to her more serious roles ("Clash By Night," "Bus Stop," and "The Misfits"), she more than held her own with a variety of stars like Barbara Stanwyck, Jack Lemmon, Laurence Olivier, Clark Gable, and Montgomery Clift. Dying young, alone and under strange circumstances only embellished her legend and iconic aura. We read that last year her estate earned $27 million, more than she ever earned when alive. Photo collections and books about her still are best sellers. A troubled, misunderstood beauty frozen in time by her early death, we imagine the interest in Marilyn will last at least another 50 years.
