Bucks And Bounce

There were some good numbers posted for the President's campaign yesterday. First, the campaign raised $114 million in August (vs. $112 million for Willard). Second, the President got a better than expected bump from the convention, and now leads his Rethuglican opponent by up to 5 points nationally.

A major caveat about fundraising is that the numbers don't reflect Super PAC money -- billionaire bribery funds -- where Willard "Corporations Are People, My Friend" Romney has a big (and truly corrupting) advantage. There was speculation that after the convention, the President would rally his donor base and make fundraising competitive (his campaign says they received over 317,000 new first time contributions in the last period). With his "bounce" in the polls, some of the President's wealthy 2008 contributors may come off of the sidelines, but it's too early to tell.
