Sports Interlude

First, belated congratulations are in order for the Washington Nationals, who made the playoffs for the first time in almost 8 decades. They have the winningest percentage in Major League Baseball and are half a dozen wins from clinching the National League East and getting home field advantage during the NL pennant race.

Turning our attention to college football, what's up with the Big Ten? Iowa going down to Central Michigan, Illinois losing to Louisiana Tech, Ohio State and Michigan State struggling but winning (unfortunately), Wisconsin struggling (but winning) against UTEP, and Michigan losing a game it should have won against Notre Dame but for the godawful play of one -coughDenardRobinsoncough- player. Most disappointing to say the least. Over-confidence breeding complacency? (Obama campaign take note.)

Whup - gotta go, NFL pregame shows are starting. Can't wait to see the professional ball players expert refereeing.
