Why We Call Them Rethugs- I've Got Mine, Jack, Edition, Cont'd.

When Hurricane Katrina delivered a devastating blow to the Gulf Coast in 2005, one of the most aggressive voices for assistance to his district was Mississippi Rep. Steven "Not Even" Palazzo (R - MeMeMe). Now that his fellow citizens in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut need assistance to recover from their own devastating hurricane, Not Even Steven wants to close the checkbook. He was one of 67 Rethuglicans to vote against the $9.7 billion relief bill in the House last week.

This is what happens when a toxic economic / political philosophy of the kind pushed by the extreme right, where grabbing everything for yourself is encouraged, meets the gerrymandering of Congressional districts, which produce Congressional Districts where there is little or no political opposition, and the most extreme elements of their party call the shots. There are no negative consequences for this hypocritical, selfish and ultimately anti-American behavior, only rewards with reelection.
