Connecticut Passes Tough Gun Laws

Nearly four months after the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Connecticut lawmakers passed what's being called the toughest gun safety/control laws in the country.  The laws extend the State ban on assault-style weapons, on high capacity magazines, and institute mandatory universal background checks, among other measures.

Meanwhile in Congress, the National Rifle Rampage Association appears cautiously optimistic that their lobbying efforts are paying off -- literally paying off.  Just 30 days ago, it was a given that mandatory background checks would be part of any gun control legislation, no matter how modest.  Now sources are indicating wavering on background checks by red state "Dems" who have buckled under NRA talking points and threats of campaign funds shut off.  This despite overwhelming -- 91% -- support by the public for mandatory background checks.  To paraphrase David Axelrod's comment on Morning Joke today, they care more about keeping their own jobs than saving the lives of their constituents.

Now let's see what NY, NJ and MA do to keep the crazies from CT from buying in those states. You haven't seen traffic until you see a really large lottery pot in one of those states... P.E.C.

Exactly, it's like having a "dry" State in the middle of "wet" States: the alcoholics will drive to get their liquor and endanger the rest of us. Thanks P.E.C.
