Senators Moving On Military Sexual Assaults

Sexual assault cases in the military have increased alarmingly, and several members of the Senate, led by New York Dem Sen. Kristen Gillibrand are introducing legislation to change the protocol for reporting serious abuse cases (felony-level).  Currently, serious abuse cases are reported up through the chain of command, offering huge potential for abuses of subordinates by superiors.  The new legislation would create channel to report abuse that wouldn't involve reporting to one's superior officer.  As Gillibrand said,
"When any single victim of sexual assault is forced to salute her attacker, clearly our system is broken."
