Sen. Frank Lautenberg

Sadly, one of our progressive champions, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) passed away today at the age of 89.  He was the last WWII veteran in the Senate and had already announced his intention to retire after his current term due to health issues.  New Jersey governor Chris Christie will make an interim appointment to fill Lautenberg's seat pending a special election.
