Six Months Ago

The massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School occurred six months ago today.  Events marking the tragic anniversary are being held today in Newtown and in other locations.  A bus tour sponsored by the Mayors Against Illegal Guns will visit 10 states over the coming weeks to get support for gun safety legislation.

Meanwhile, the amoral monsters that run the National Rifle Rampage Association are still gloating over their ability to frustrate the desire of roughly 90% of the public (and a majority of their membership) on the failed background check legislation. They're also running a despicable $100,000 ad campaign in West Virginia to try to intimidate Sen. Joe Manchin from continuing his role in bringing back a bipartisan bill on background checks.  But the legislators that are in trouble are those that voted against background checks (see Kelly Ayotte, Jeff Flake, etc.), so this may be another overreach by the gun lobby.
