Rep. Connolly Nails It

You may have heard that the Teathuglican caucus broke into a chorus of "Amazing Grace" yesterday after they voted down the latest compromise to re-open the Government and avoid a default on the debt.  The self-righteous clowns apparently don't realize that "Amazing Grace" is a favored song at funerals.  Dem Rep. Gerry Connolly (VA) did notice, and delivered this perfect-pitch smack down:
"I hope they understand the derivations of those lyrics.  It was written by a slave trader who came to be filled with remorse for his actions. His words say, 'I was blind but now I see' ... He is remorseful for his past and takes responsibility for those actions and sees the saving light of grace, even for a wretch like himself."
When he was asked what the Dems would sing once the Government re-opened and the debt ceiling was lifted, Connolly quipped "Here Comes The Sun."  Well done, Congressman.
