Musical Remembrance - 50 Years Gone By

The English folk song "Greensleeves" goes back nearly half a millennium, and was one of Jacqueline Kennedy's favorite pieces of music, which is why we want to showcase it here.  The great English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams adapted the traditional folk song in this beautiful piece,"Fantasia on Greensleeves."



The Kennedy Administration, of course, became associated with the Lerner and Loewe musical "Camelot," a romantic retelling of the legend of King Arthur and his magical domain.  Perhaps the greatest man to play King Arthur was the legendary actor Richard Burton, who here is performing the title song from that musical.
