The war in Iraq, launched by the Bushies and their neocon cohort under false pretenses and cherry-picked "intelligence" about WMD and Saddam Hussein's supposed links to 9-11, is still haunting the region, even long after U.S. combat troops have withdrawn. Al Qaeda has grown in power, while Sunni/Shia sectarian violence is on the upswing, and Iran's influence in Iraq and throughout the region has grown despite U.S./European Union sanctions.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell warned Dumbya and The Dick before the ill-fated war in Iraq was launched that, "if you break it, you own it." It's a shame that the "ownership" didn't end with Dumbya and his neocon cohort. We -- and the Iraqi people -- are still owning it.
