Our Broken Media, Cont'd.

The video in the post below ends with Rep. Chris Van Hollen noting that the press initially ran with misleading Rethuglican talking points on the latest Congressional Budget Office report on the Affordable Care Act, before taking a closer look at the report.  That's become an all too common occurrence over the past 20 years.  Media Matters looks at the conservative media's role in pumping the disinformation out into the mainstream, but it's the Beltway media's habit of chasing controversy, bright shiny objects and sound bites that play the biggest role in misinforming the public.  Lazy as the major media have become, the Rethugs know that it pays to feed them unsubstantiated, slanted information (e.g., Benghazi, BENGHAZI!) with the assumption that, to paraphrase Rep. Van Hollen, by the time the truth catches up, the lie has travelled around the world.
