Some Hope for Long-Term Unemployed
A glimmer of hope to over 2 million long-term unemployed was given when the Senate reached a bipartisan agreement to provide $10 billion in unemployment insurance benefits for five months, retroactive to December 28, 2013 when they expired due to Rethuglican obstruction. However, the Senate won't take the measure up until after their spring break ends on March 24. It's also facing an uphill battle in the Rethuglican-controlled House of Representatives, where Weeper of the House John "Mr. Tangerine Man" Boehner has vowed to kill any extensions of unemployment benefits.
