"Anita"
Over 23 years ago, the Senate was considering the nomination of Clarence "Long Dong Silver" Thomas to be a Supreme Court Justice. In his confirmation hearing, testimony was given by Anita Hill that Thomas had engaged in a pattern of sexual harassment in the workplace. Hill's testimony was riveting and compelling, despite attempts by Rethuglicans on the Senate committee and in the media to discredit her. Thomas, of course, was confirmed and remains one of the most controversial and least effective Justices in modern times. Hill is a professor of social policy, law, and women's studies at Brandeis University.
Here is the movie trailer to the documentary "Anita" which recounts that period when the nation was presented with the reality of sexual harassment in the workplace, thanks to a brave woman who spoke truth to power and paid a huge personal price. "Anita" will be released in select cities on March 21.
