It was 11 years ago today that Preznit Dumbya dressed up in a flight suit with some padding in his crotch, was flown onto an aircraft carrier anchored off of California, and delivered a victory speech on Iraq underneath a banner that read "Mission Accomplished." That turned out to be, as the war itself, a bad idea. Here's an excerpt from the Daily Kos' recollection:
"So Commander Codpiece dressed up in a flight suit and pretended to fly a plane out to an aircraft carrier, where he made a victory speech under a banner that said MISSION ACCOMPLISHED...In fact, winning the war was so much fun that Commander Codpiece went on winning it for another eight years until his successor decided that enough winning had been won."The article captures some of the swooning of the punditocracy over Dumbya's Top Gun imitation, and should be read back to some of the same pundits that are mocking President Obama's "caution" and "weak leadership" today for not bombing some country or another. Happy anniversary!
Ha wrong again!
ReplyDeleteIn 2008 Dana Perino proved that it was the Sailors and Navy who messed up!
"President Bush is well aware that the banner should have been much more specific, and said, Mission Accomplished For These Sailors Who Are On This Ship On Their Mission."
See! See! See! The banner was supposed to read: Mission Accomplished For These Sailors Who Are On This Ship On Their Mission!
Boom! #Wkeptussafe Mic Drop!
And who can question Dana Perino? History corrected, just like the banner.
ReplyDelete"We did not have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush's term..." - Dana Perino.
