"Or You Can Believe The Senator With The Snowball"

Yesterday, Oklahoma's official State Idiot, Sen. James "Inbred" Inhofe (R- Oil Patch) tried to capture everyone's attention by bringing a snowball to the Senate floor and claiming it was somehow evidence that climate change was a hoax.  This is the same clown whose family built an "igloo" near the Capitol during 2010's "snowmageddon" to jab at Al Gore, apparently clueless that climate change is evidenced by long-term weather extremes like record droughts, snowfalls, and category 5 hurricanes.

Not one to suffer fools gladly, Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the floor to demolish Inbred's climate change denial nonsense.  A sampling:
"Every major American scientific society has put itself on record -- many of them a decade ago -- that climate change is deadly real….And the fundamental principle is that it is derived from carbon pollution, which comes from burning fossil fuels, are beyond legitimate dispute to the point where every leading scientific organization on the planet calls them unequivocal. So, you can believe every major American scientific society, or you can believe the Senator With The Snowball." (emphasis added)
Example by example, Whitehouse asks whether his colleagues are going to believe the judgment of NASA, the U.S. military, major corporations, and even religious organizations or that of "the Senator with the snowball."  It's at the same time hilarious and sad that this discussion has to occur with people that are either paid by the fossil industry to shill for them, or are just too ignorant and distrustful of climate science to understand where we're heading.
