Lynch Confirmed As Attorney General
After months of Rethuglican hostage-taking on unrelated legislative matters, Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch was confirmed this afternoon by a 56 to 43 vote in the Senate. Lynch becomes the first African-American woman to be Attorney General. Lynch has had a distinguished record as a tough U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, where she successfully prosecuted racketeers and terrorists. The Harvard-educated Lynch was acknowledged by many on the Republican side to be eminently qualified for the position, despite the fact that they blocked her confirmation.
