The "smart" Bush steps in it, again:
“A big country, a tolerant country, ought to be able to figure out the difference between discriminating someone because of their sexual orientation and not forcing someone to participate in a wedding that they find goes against their moral beliefs,” he said. “This should not be that complicated. Gosh, it is right now.” (our emphasis) John Ellis "J.E.B." Bush Saturday speaking on "Christian" Broadcasting Network.Gee, no, "J.E.B." We think it's you who need to figure it out, and we'd like to help.
Discrimination is discrimination is discrimination, no matter how it's cloaked. Segregationists used to cloak their racism in the "moral belief" that God separated the races on different continents, so man should keep it that way. Is that so hard for your poor little head to wrap around? And this guy was supposed to be the "gay-friendly, compassionate Republican" this go-round.
This may be what the base wants to hear -- certainly he was pandering to the "Christian" right -- but it won't serve him well with the broader electorate that's moved way beyond his views.
Meanwhile, we await the second, third and fourth clarifications from the "smart" Bush.
