One Step Closer to Striking the Flag of Treason
The South Carolina Senate voted by a surprisingly lopsided 37 - 3 to remove the Confederate flag of treason from the grounds of the State Capitol building. After a final reading, the measure goes to the South Carolina House of Representatives for debate and a vote.
It's shocking that the flag is seen as a symbol of Southern heritage by so many, when it was flown by people who committed treason by seceding from the Union because they wanted to perpetuate the crime of slavery. Some perhaps are in ignorant denial about the history of the Civil War, but others know the truth and still flaunt their defiant racism. It's literally the flag of the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist groups. Either way, what some have called the American swastika is seeing its twilight, and good riddance at last.
UPDATE: "One step forward, one step back."
