U.S. and Cuba Reopen Embassies
Fifty-four years after diplomatic relations were broken between the U.S. and Cuba, formal diplomatic relations were re-established today as embassies in Washington, D.C. and Havana reopened. The Cuban flag will be raised at the Cuban embassy this morning by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who will later meet with Secretary of State Kerry at the State Department.
Despite the restoration of relations, the trade embargo and reparation claims, along with human rights issues, remain unresolved.
