Some Things Never Change Quote of the Day
"Between now and the congressional vote in September, you’re going to hear a lot of arguments against this deal, backed by tens of millions of dollars in advertisements. And if the rhetoric in these ads, and the accompanying commentary, sounds familiar, it should -- for many of the same people who argued for the war in Iraq are now making the case against the Iran nuclear deal." -- (emphasis added) President Obama, speaking today at American University in Washington, DC. American University was the site of President Kennedy's pivotal speech in 1963 on nuclear testing and disarmament.
Using millions of dollars in advertising, the shrill opponents of the Iran nuclear deal are propagating the false notion that a "better deal" is out there to be negotiated, but failing to suggest any realistic options that would be supported by our negotiating partners and the world community, not to mention the hardliners in Iran. Dems need to hold the line (that includes you, Sen. Schumer) and vote to uphold the agreement, which may be our last chance to contain Iran's nuclear ambitions short of a devastating war.
UPDATE: Here's the transcript and video of the President's speech.
