"You scare our funders" about wraps up the basis for the Republicans' refusal to take action on climate change. When the fossil fuel industry is bankrolling not only Rethug politicians but the "think" tanks that churn out debunked climate change denial reports, it would be insane to think they'll ever come around.
Yesterday, a Senate subcommittee chaired by the odious demagogue Sen. "Tailgunner" Ted Cruz heard testimony from an equally odious Islamophobe, hate radio host Mark "Brown" Steyn -- who has absolutely no climatology or national security background -- deride the national security implications of global climate change, which at a minimum involve displaced populations, devastating coastal flooding, and war over diminishing resources. His rambling rant apparently even embarrassed Tailgunner Ted, who tabled further dissuasion after Brown Steyn's flip-out. Perhaps Massachusetts Dem Senator Ed Markey said it best:
“The only thing that requires a serious scientific investigation is why we are holding today’s hearing in the first place.”We'll venture a guess: just follow the money.
