After an 18 month struggle with cancer, pop rock legend David Bowie died at his home yesterday. He had just turned 69 last Friday. Over his nearly 50 year career, Bowie's persona and musical styles shifted from "glam rock," to dance/cabaret, to electronic, to punk rock and more, with the theme of an outsider being the dominant one. He sold over 130 million albums spanning 5 decades, with his final album, "Blackstar," released last Friday, as celebrity tributes mounted. At his death, he had been married to Somali-born supermodel Iman for 24 years. RIP.
