Swallow That Yuuuge Orange Pill!
Seemingly every day, another frightened Republican official decides to "endorse" their party's presumed nominee, neo-fascist demagogue Donald "Rump" Trump, although it seems to takes some extra effort to swallow that yuuuge orange endorsement pill. Take endangered New Hampshire Sen. Kelly "A-not" Ayotte, who is in a tight re-election battle with Dem Gov. Maggie Hassan, and who just the other day said she would "support" Rump but not endorse him. Speaker of the House and Ayn Rand enthusiast Paul "Lyin'" Ryan said last week he "isn't ready" to endorse Herr Rump, but hopes to be able to. Courage, people! Swallow!
There are a few elected Rethugs that say they won't "endorse" or vote for Rump, with the most prominent being Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker and Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse. Baker's in a blue state facing reelection in two years, and Sasse apparently is assuming that Rump will shatter the party and leave the clean up job to the likes of....Ben Sasse. The Bush dynasty's on the sidelines, too, with failed family scion John Ellis "J.E.B. : ( " Bush saying outright that he won't vote for Rump (or Clinton), ditto Sen. Lindsey "Huckleberry" Graham, who loathed both Rump and "Tailgunner Ted" Cruz.
Such is the dilemma of a Party which brought this all on themselves over the past two generations of wedge politics, appealing to ignorance and racism, and stoking fear.
