Following the mass shooting at a gay club yesterday in Orlando, hundreds of people turned out to donate blood to the 53 surviving victims. Lines at most donation centers wrapped around the block, and the Orlando Sentinel reports that blood banks are now at capacity. Since there'll be an ongoing need, they have urged people to return in a few days. Sadly and frustratingly for them, members of the gay community are prohibited by Food and Drug Administration rules from donating blood if they have had sex within the past year, regulations that will likely get reviewed after this tragedy.
Contrast that outpouring of human decency with the frenzy on the right to whip up more politically-motivated, anti-Muslim sentiment, led by the Trumpenfuhrer himself in multiple tweets. Most telling about his narcissistic character was his self-congratulatory tweet noted in the post below. As the great Sen. Elizabeth Warren has said, Rump is someone "who cares about no one but himself." That's very different from the people pictured above.
