The Incredible, Shrinking DWS (UPDATED)
Current Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is being told her role in the Democratic National Convention will be significantly curtailed, due to the kerfuffle over the calculated leaking of internal DNC e-mails that disparaged Sen. Bernie Sanders, and created the appearance of bias against him in his contest with Hillary Clinton. Wasserman Schultz will no longer have a speaking role at the convention, and will likely be present only for the opening and closing gavel for the proceedings.
What led to this point is that over the past year, DNC computers were hacked by Russian intelligence and various documents, including those e-mails, were turned over by them to WikiLeaks. The Russian regime is known to favor the candidacy of neo-fascist Donald "Rump" Trump, who has questioned the need for NATO and whose campaign manager has consulted with the Russian government.
The hostility toward Wasserman Schultz among partisans who supported Sanders in the primaries is out in the open, and has caused the Clinton-Kaine campaign team heartburn that they didn't need just before the start of the convention. This would be a proper time for her to step aside and focus on her re-election for her Florida Congressional seat, but it's more likely that she'll have to be forced out to maintain peace in the Dem fold.
UPDATE: She gone!
