Houston Chronicle: Trump's "A Danger To The Republic" (UPDATED)

Ten days after The Washington Post editorial board opted not to wait until the fall to make its presidential endorsement, the Houston Chronicle also decided today there was no point waiting for a "pivot" from neo- fascist sociopathic narcissist Donald "Rump" Trump; they'd seen enough:
On Nov. 8, 2016, the American people will decide between two presidential contenders who represent the starkest political choice in living memory. They will choose between one candidate with vast experience and a lifelong dedication to public service and another totally lacking in qualifications to be president. They will decide whether they prefer someone deeply familiar with the issues that are important to this nation or a person whose paper-thin, bumper-sticker proposals would be dangerous to the nation and the world if somehow they were enacted.  [snip]
Any one of Trump's less-than-sterling qualities - his erratic temperament, his dodgy business practices, his racism, his Putin-like strongman inclinations and faux-populist demagoguery, his contempt for the rule of law, his ignorance - is enough to be disqualifying. His convention-speech comment, "I alone can fix it," should make every American shudder. He is, we believe, a danger to the Republic.
The Houston Chronicle, by the way, has endorsed the Republican candidate for president in every election since 1968, with the exception of President Obama in 2008.

BONUS:  The Los Angeles Times hasn't yet come out with their endorsement, but here's part of what they had to say about Rump and the spineless Rethugs that still support him:
"The man is a threat to the nation, and to alliances around the world. He expresses admiration for Vladimir Putin and thinks more nations should have nuclear weapons. He’s suggested that he might not defend NATO allies against attack despite our treaty commitments.  He’s described Mexican immigrants as “rapists,” and said he would build a border wall. He argued that a respected Indiana-born federal judge born can’t be impartial in a trial against Trump University because of his Mexican heritage. He’s threatened to bar Muslims from entering the country.....It’s not enough to reject individual statements by Trump. Trump’s entire campaign is based on his ego, his intolerance and his disreputable world view. Those who will not repudiate him are on the wrong side in this battle for the nation’s political soul."
BONUS II:  Ryan Cooper has a good read on the Republican "elites" and their Trump- loving Republican base.
