Mid-Week Memorial Song

New Orleans jazz icon Pete Fountain died August 6 at the age of 86.  A figure for decades in the French Quarter jazz scene, Fountain's musical range spanned Dixieland jazz to contemporary pop and Creole sounds. His use of a crystal mouthpiece gave his clarinet a fuller, earthier sound that made it his own. One of Fountain's standards, "Basin Street Blues," is our song today.
