Chicago Suing Trump Over Sanctuary Cities Threat

The City of Chicago is suing the administration of bigot and demagogue Donald "Rump" Trump over threats to withhold Federal public safety grant funds to "sanctuary cities," which provide a measure of safety to undocumented immigrants by not providing assistance in enforcing immigration laws. The threatened move by Rump could cost the city $3.2 million in grant funds to purchase equipment. Two weeks ago, Confederate States Attorney General and evil elf Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III announced plans to bar sanctuary cities from receiving Federal grant funds unless their police forces act as extensions to immigration agents by allowing unlimited access to jails and other measures.

Hundreds of cities and municipalities including Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Minneapolis, Denver, and Detroit have declared themselves to be sanctuary cities, and the Federal government has $380 million in its budget next year to fund public safety grants. Chicago is the first sanctuary city to file a lawsuit over the threat to withhold those funds.

I'm wondering how a suit like this will hold up in court. Law enforcement officials always have the upper hand in these matters. I'm glad I live in a sanctuary state!

Diva -- It's worth watching how they handle the argument. One would be that immigration is a Federal responsibility and not that of State or local jurisdictions, which don't get involved in enforcement issues. We'll see, and wish them success.
