Weekend Moody Music
Ray Thomas, a founding member of the British progressive rock band The Moody Blues, recently passed away at the age of 76. Ray was the band's flautist, as well as a singer and composer. On this vid of their 1964 breakthrough hit "Go Now," which we featured here many years ago, Ray is seen playing the tambourine. (The lead singer is Denny Laine, who later played with Ginger Baker's Air Force and with Paul McCartney's Wings). In 1968's high- energy "Ride My See- Saw," Ray's the one in the black suit having fun singing and bopping at the microphone, with a revised band lineup. Sadly, Ray won't be here to be honored at this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where The Moody Blues will be, rather belatedly, inducted. R.I.P.
