And now that the big bomb has dropped, it was a stink bomb. No collateral damage, just the putrid smell of deception and baseless charges.

Pardon my French, but Fuque You, Trump, Nunes, Ryan, and the rest of you lying s.o.b. Republicans.

donnah - it was entirely as predicted. Now we wait to see if it will be used as the pretext to start firing the investigators.

I expect the Trump loyalists will disregard the overwhelming backlash from everyone else, including members of their own party. Even Trey Gowdy stated that the memo was not an influence on Mueller's investigation.

Any attempts by Republicans and by Trump's orders to move forward against the FBI will be outright illegal. Maybe they'll continue to push ahead to get Rosenstein and then replace him with someone to take Mueller out, but in light of the blowback against Nunes, it would be a dangerous move.

They need to back the hell off.

donnah - my thought is that Rump and a number of his sycophants (including Nunes) are in so much legal peril -- and know Mueller has, or will soon have the goods on them -- that they think they have no other hand to play other than to try to destroy the investigation or at least throw so much dirt at it that they can survive what's coming.

Oh, I think Trump's minions are worried and I hope they have good reason to be. But Trump is a bona fide narcissist and he believes he's innocent because he's the boss of everyone and can't be charged or challenged. He probably has convinced himself that he has nothing to fear because he'll be able to lie or buy his way out of anything. And he may have even convinced himself that he hasn't done anything wrong and no one can touch him with regards to his investments or money connections to Russia.

Right wingers will be howling for heads to roll in the Dept of Justice, so I hope the FBI can hang tough and start making their own case.

The Memo was a farce and it should blow up in their faces.
