In an interview with the Polish edition of Newsweek, convicted child rapist and fugitive from the U.S. director Roman "Polluted" Polanski said the "MeToo" movement represented "collective hysteria" and "total hypocrisy." Polanski, a fugitive from justice since 1978 after being convicted of drugging and raping a 13 year-old and fleeing the U.S., was finally stripped of his membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on May 3. Here's his misogynistic view:
“'Everyone is trying to sign up, chiefly out of fear,' he said. It's a shame that this creep's position in the world of film has shielded him from justice for so long. His arrogant taunting of the movement that exposes rapists and pedophiles like him is further evidence that he has no remorse for his actions.
Polanski compared the entertainment industry’s response to the airing of sexual misconduct allegations to the way North Korea publicly mourns dead leaders and everyone cries so much 'you can’t help laughing.'
'To me this is total hypocrisy,' he said, without elaborating."
