QOTD -- Civility

Charles Pierce is tired of the "chin strokers" in the media and elsewhere complaining about the use of "foul language" in describing vicious shitgibbon Donald "Rump" Trump, his crime family, and his regime. He offers a more worthy topic of analysis:
"Maybe the country is full of enough racists, xenophobes, nativists, and angry idiots that it elected a dangerous buffoon to lead it, and maybe that’s a more important subject than whether or not somebody said a mean thing to Ivanka Trump. Maybe calling the Trump voters what they are, based on what they’ve done to the rest of us, is more important to the survival of the Republic than what three jamokes in a diner think of brown people who are coming to murder them in their beds."
As Pierce also says, "If you're being civil, you're not paying attention."

BONUSWonkette nails the two New York Times civility concern trolls whose article prompted Pierce's piece.

BONUS IIMcSweeney's has imagined some other NYT civility takes in history.

Gee, that couple seems nice.

Yeah, I don't need to be scolded or reprimanded by RightWing Nazi lizard people. If they hadn't pushed so many of us good-hearted people to the brink of outrage, we wouldn't use harsh language to condemn them. “Fuck your feelings” works both ways, and hopefully they'll be the ones crying in November.

Also, why do they think having genuine feelings is a bad thing? Republicans. Ugh.

donnah - exactly. Civility might be fine in "normal" times, which these of course aren't.
