Stephen Colbert looked at mentally unstable sociopath Donald "Rump" Trump's incoherent and disturbing interview in the New York Times and gives him some well-deserved, first class mockery.
Colbert's humor helps to raise the issue of Rump's stability to the general public. Keeping an eye on Rump's mental state under stress is becoming a serious issue, however. Yale psychiatrist Bandy X. Lee thinks we're entering a dangerous period as he feels cornered:
"His anxieties are palpable, as he resorts to more and more extreme measures and unreal justifications for building a wall. We had the extended shutdown that put us at real security risk, according to the FBI, and declaring a national emergency is a very real possibility.Rethugs won't provide the guardrails (or straitjacket) needed; only firm and persistent resistance by Dems, our Constitutional institutions, and the public will.
He needs to maintain his shrinking base as well as to give himself a sense of victory, and he will go to all lengths to achieve it."
