Weekend Epic Music

The increasingly widespread use of Cinemascope and Technicolor (or variations thereof) in post- WWII filmmaking was coupled with an impetus for making movies that were grand in scale that those technologies could fully showcase.  Of course, an epic movie deserves an epic soundtrack, and there was no shortage of them, especially in the 1950's and 1960's.  We've selected the main themes -- all Academy Award winners for Music Score -- from a few of those epic movies, realizing many are being left out. Hope you enjoy.

Around the World in 80 Days -- Victor Young, composer

Lawrence of Arabia -- Maurice Jarre

Exodus -- Ernest Gold

Doctor Zhivago -- Maurice Jarre

I love when you post this stuff, guys. You forget how great some tunes, movies, & rock stars are & we need to be reminded. Like your Beatles' post the other day.
THANKS!
