Texas' contribution to lowering the average IQ of America, Rep. Louie "Screwy Louie" Gohmert, has made himself the leading contender for the most stupid man in Congress, although box hunter and bayou bonehead Rep. Clay "Whar boxes?" Higgins made a strong bid in his risible questioning of Michael Cohen during the recent House Oversight Committee hearings. (Also, Screwy Louie may have some 'splaining to do to his missus about his coziness with a Chinese happy ending spa owner.)
After the horrific mass slaughter of 49 Muslim worshipers yesterday in Christchurch, New Zealand by an avowed white supremacist and fascist, Screwy Louie took on the mission of deflecting from the fact that it was one of his racist, anti-immigrant soulmates pulling the trigger. Wanting to cut the terrorist shooter some slack, Gohmert said this:
"The shootings at the New Zealand mosques are egregiously reprehensible. There are courts, dispute resolutions, and legislatures to resolve controversies — there is no place for cold blooded murders." (our emphasis)Controversies? People being murdered in their house of worship somehow should have been a resolvable controversy in court? What Screwy Louie is really saying is that it wouldn't have been necessary to shoot the victims if only the shooter had taken his anti-immigrant racism to court. To Gohmert, Muslim presence in New Zealand (and in the U.S.) is controversial. Note that he failed to offer the rote "thoughts and prayers" to the victims.
There's one thing that's not controversial: Louie Gohmert is a white supremacist dolt and a disgrace.
