"But Her Emails!" -- The Final (?) Debunking

Not that this will stop nitwit crime boss Donald "The Dumb Don" Trump and his army of knuckle- draggers from continuing to flog this, but:

A multiyear State Department probe of emails that were sent to former secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s private computer server concluded there was no systemic or deliberate mishandling of classified information by department employees, according to a report submitted to Congress this month.

The report appears to represent a final and anticlimactic chapter in a controversy that overshadowed the 2016 presidential campaign and exposed Clinton to fierce criticism that she later cited as a major factor in her loss to President Trump.
In the end, State Department investigators found 38 current or former employees “culpable” of violating security procedures — none involving material that had been marked classified — in a review of roughly 33,000 emails that had been sent to or from the personal computer system Clinton used.
Overall, investigators said, “there was no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information.” The report cited “instances of classified information being inappropriately” transmitted, but noted that the vast majority of those scrutinized “were aware of security policies and did their best to implement them.”  (our emphasis)
Kudos again to the media, especially to the New York Effing Times, for it's role in catapulting the bullshit.  The Columbia Journalism Review's exhaustive study of media reporting in the 2016 election detailed the Times' (and other media) malfeasance (e.g., "In just six days, The New York Times ran as many cover stories about Hillary Clinton’s emails as they did about all policy issues combined in the 69 days leading up to the election.").  They also largely chose to ignore the overwhelming evidence that Trump was a corrupt, unfit, unstable, existential threat to our country, in order to ... what?  Drag down their bugaboo Clinton?  See if they could make the election more of a horse- race?  To "balance" their reporting?  Now we can look back at the mess and see it confirmed as the joke that it was.

But the joke was on us.  It took a media village to give us Trump.

BONUS:  The Times' c-cksuckers also carried the story of the debunking today -- on page A16.
