I watched both press/news conferences yesterday, and yes, I'm a glutton for punishment. I correspond with a Finland native online and I wanted to see how their President responded to Trump. As I expected, Trump showed his ass and the Finnish president maintained a gracious, if not embarrassed demeanor.
With every self-induced trauma, Trump and his people react with anger and projection. I'm a little gunshy after Mueller, which was supposed to be an earth-shattering revelation that would save us from more Trumping. Sadly, it did not. And so Trump barged ahead, free to commit more crimes.
I hope this time is different. It does feel a little different, and maybe the tide has actually turned. I suspect that Trump loyalists are sweating, but the true believers just see it as another Democratic attack without merit. I think Moscow Mitch may be stepping back a bit, but Lindsay Graham is in for the long haul.
Trump is freaking out. His lame attempt to mollify Pelosi was laughable and his desperation is obvious. i hope his time is truly at hand and he will be impeached and weakened beyond measure. He'll never resign, he doesn't understand shame or regret, but if he continues to feel financial pressure and loss of loyalty, he could completely flip out.
donnah -- initially anyway, it appears the public is paying attention and is able to see Trump's extortion of a foreign government to interfere in our election for what it was. Maybe the Mueller probe was too wide- ranging or complex, but in this case you have a White House- produced memo of call (which was probably barbered, but not enough) that incriminates Trump in plain language (and validates the assertions by the whistleblower). Even in his state of deterioration, he can tell this is a different ball game and, as Rep. Schiff said, the Dems aren't playing games.
