The Kremlin is delighted over the events of the past few weeks regarding the position that demagogue and Kremlin asset Donald "Mango Mussolini" Trump has put Ukraine in over his extortion plan for dirt on former VP Joe Biden. It's put Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a tag-team between Trump and his handler, Russian thug Vladimir Putin, who has as his goal the annexation of Ukraine into his dreamed-for Russian empire. During their meeting at the UN last month, a clearly intimidated Zelensky sat next to Trump and nervously supported Trump's lie about not being pressured to manufacture political dirt on Biden and his son to benefit Trump in 2020. Zelensky also nodded at Trump's corrupt suggestion that he talk with Putin, presumably to give Putin the Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine.
Russian state media is openly mocking Zelensky's predicament, and praising Trump for a job well done on their behalf. Under pressure from Trump, Zelensky is moving toward a Russian-approved settlement called the "Steinmeier Formula," which allows Russian irregular forces to remain in eastern Ukraine and an unsecured border with Russia before elections, guaranteeing Russian interference and intimidation (from the link):
"The most controversial aspect of the Steinmeier Formula is that it provides for local elections to take place in the occupied parts of Ukraine before Kyiv has control of the border and prior to the withdrawal of the Russian-backed forces.Putin covets the new countries that were formerly part of his beloved Soviet Union. He's got the cooperation of Trump in that goal. Putin's media put it plainly and ominously:
This condition doesn’t seem to match up with Zelensky’s understanding of the agreement. After signing on to the Steinmeier Formula, the Ukrainian president declared during a news conference that the elections would not be held 'under the barrel of a gun' and would take place only when no troops remain in the separatist-held areas.
'What Ukraine was so afraid of has happened… Zelensky doesn’t understand what he signed,' concluded Vladimir Soloviev, the host of the nightly The Evening With Vladimir Soloviev on Russian state television." (our emphasis)
“Come back to the Soviet Union,” urged Karen Shakhnazarov, CEO of Mosfilm Studio, appearing on The Evening. [snip]
'Trump let Zelensky down. Three times he told him: ‘Go meet with Putin,’ said Olga Skabeeva, the host of 60 Minutes. [snip] She surmised: 'After his ‘triumphant’ meeting with the American president, Zelensky had no choice but to lie back and enjoy it… We know what happened in the United States. You have nowhere left to go.'”The rape imagery fits perfectly what expansionist Russia has in mind for Ukraine, assisted by Trump who is holding the victim down.
