This morning, the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, flanked by the Chairs of the committees investigating Kremlin asset and corrupt con man Donald "Tovarich" Trump, announced that two Articles of Impeachment would be prepared, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, with regard to Trump's shakedown of Ukraine and the subsequent obstruction of the Congressional investigation. Addressing the questions about waiting for further testimony or until the 2020 elections, the Dems pointed out that Trump was still engaged in trying to enlist foreign help in his campaign for reelection, much like he welcomed it from Russia in his 2016 campaign. As the great Chair of the Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff put it in his remarks:
"The argument why don't you just wait amounts to this: why don't you just let him cheat in one more election?"It's both ironic and chilling that Trump is meeting with one of his Russian handlers, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, later today in the Oval Office, after his rage-tweet about FBI Director Christopher Wray (see post below) and the debunking of Trump's lie that the FBI's Russiagate investigation was politically motivated. The last time Trump met in the Oval Office with Lavrov (and then-ambassador Sergey Kisliak) was immediately after he fired FBI Director James Comey for investigating what Trump called "the Russia thing." Trump's reckless brazenness concerning his ties to Russia are on full display once again.
