Texas Property Owners Fight Trump's Wall

Autocratic buffoon and bigot Donald "The Chosen One" Trump is insisting that private property owners along the border with Mexico in Texas give up their rights so that he can have his flawed vanity wall. Approximately 162 miles of his wall would be constructed on private land, including thousands of parcels that are owned by individuals, businesses and churches. That won't stop Trump, who has threatened to seize the land and is filing legal actions to condemn the land for his wall:
"On Friday, the federal government filed its first land acquisition case to condemn nearly 13 acres of private property in the Rio Grande Valley, a parcel near the river levee in Hidalgo County. The owner was offered $93,449 in compensation for the land. The fight that likely will ensue pits Texans against Trump, who has long said he wants to take whatever land he needs to build his signature promise to America. Landowners, including some who support Trump, are preparing a legal fight that could stall the wall-building effort and lead to years-long court battles over private land rights, family homes and what the Trump administration deems a critical national security issue."  (our emphasis)
Trump's penetrable wall will not only cost many billions of dollars if completed, much of it diverted from military construction and other more immediate needs, but will result in enormous payments to compensate the private landowners, should they choose to sell.

Trump is desperate to push the lie to his cult that the wall is nearing completion, despite having only 85 miles of fencing built where barriers had previously existed. He's appointed his inept son-in-law, Jared "Mr. Ivanka Trump" Kushner, to expedite the process of land acquisition and construction. Kushner has done so well on the other projects in his portfolio: negotiating a Middle East peace, reorganizing the Government and advising him on legal matters (e.g., to fire former FBI Director Comey, thus triggering the Mueller investigation). That may be the best news yet for opponents of the wall. Unfortunately for Trump and Kushner, many Texans are gearing for a fight:
"A growing number of South Texans have not signed those letters and are facing federal lawsuits seeking access to their land. Some said in interviews they have refused to sign because they have concerns about the process or oppose the border wall project.
The Brownsville neighbors, who are no fans of the wall, ignored the letters. One family threw it away. Then came the calls, the text messages and the visits from U.S. attorneys to their work and home.
'I stopped answering the door,' said [Yvette] Arroyo, a teacher, of the multiple visits from lawyers, U.S. Border Patrol agents and Army personnel. 'Going to battle against the federal government is not something we will win. But we are not going to take this lying down.'
Another reason why the 2020 elections are a must win for Dems.
