In an alarming report, the Voice of America reports that admiration for authoritarian Russian thug and killer Vladimir Putin has grown among U.S. troops and their families since Russian asset and demagogue Donald "Tovarich" Trump entered the White (Supremacist) House. The findings are shocking to military officials, who view Russia as an expansionist adversary to the U.S.
The report notes that Trump before country Rethuglicans have nurtured the view that Russia is an "ally", following their Dear Leader's unexplained love of Putin and Russia.
"The second annual Reagan National Defense Survey, completed in late October, found nearly half of armed services households questioned, 46%, said they viewed Russia as ally. From undermining NATO, to attempting to soften or eliminate sanctions on Russia, to suggesting that Russia rejoin the G-8 despite their invasion of Ukraine, to pushing Russia's diversionary propaganda about Ukraine meddling in the 2016 elections, and more, Trump continues to do the work of the Russian Federation. Now, his cultists among the rank-and-file military are accepting the fiction that Russia is an "ally." The damage Trump has done to our institutions is broad, deep, and extremely dangerous.
Overall, the survey found 28% of Americans identified Russia as an ally, up from 19% the previous year.
Generally, the pollsters found the positive views of Russia seemed to be 'predominantly driven by Republicans who have responded to positive cues from [U.S.] President [Donald] Trump about Russia,' according to an executive summary accompanying the results.
While a majority 71% of all Americans and 53% of military households, still views Russia as an enemy, the spike in pro-Russian sentiment has defense officials concerned." (our emphasis)
