Truth 1, Barr 0

A couple of months ago, the corrupt Trump regime's Inspector Clouseau, Attorney General William "Low" Barr, hatched a investigate-the-investigators plan to undermine the Mueller investigation, searching for non-existent "facts" around the world to placate his deranged and unfit boss. Sadly for them, their stunt appears to be unravelling with today's report that Barr's appointed investigator, U.S. Attorney John Durham, has told the Justice Department's Inspector General Michael Horowitz that he's found nothing to discredit the work of the U.S. intelligence services and the FBI. The IG is expected to release his report next Monday, so Barr still has time to falsely spin the findings to Trump's benefit.

The revelation that Barr's own investigator has found nothing to support the specious conspiracy theory that the "deep state" was working to undermine Russian asset Donald "Tovarich" Trump by setting up and "spying on" members of his entourage who were in contact with Russia or Russian cutouts is damning:
"Trump and his allies have relentlessly criticized the FBI probe, which was taken over by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, as a “witch hunt” and pushed for investigations of those who launched it. They have been eagerly anticipating the release of Horowitz’s report in hopes the watchdog with a nonpartisan reputation might validate their attacks. [snip]
Horowitz’s draft report concludes that political bias did not taint how top FBI officials running the investigation handled the case, people familiar with the matter said. But it details troubling misconduct that Trump and his allies are likely to emphasize as they criticize the bureau."
The "troubling misconduct"? That there were some omissions in the FISA warrant application renewal to surveil Russia's nutty useful idiot Carter Page, who was openly shuttling between the U.S. and Russia while he was an "advisor" to Trump's campaign. Were the omissions a big deal? Not so much:
"Those omissions, while significant, were apparently not so egregious as to convince Horowitz to conclude that the renewal applications should have been rejected."
Expect Barr to cherry-pick the IG's report prior to its issuance to magnify the nits but distort the big picture: the counter-intelligence investigation into the Trump 2016 campaign was justified and produced valid evidence that underpinned Robert Mueller's investigation. Should we also expect the stenographers in the media to fall for Barr's spin, as they did when he completely mis- characterized the findings of the Mueller report?
