Quotes Of The Day

As expert witnesses at this morning's House Judiciary Committee hearing on the impeachment inquiry, three constitutional law scholars provided their opinions on the basis and intention of impeachment.  From them, here are your quotes of the day:

"These acts constitute high crimes and misdemeanors impeachable under the Constitution. By freezing aid to Ukraine and by dangling the promise of a White House visit, the president was corruptly using the powers of the presidency for personal political gain." -- Noah Feldman, Harvard Law School.

"If Congress fails to impeach here, then the impeachment process has lost all meaning, and, along with that, our Constitution’s carefully crafted safeguards against the establishment of a king on American soil."  -- Michael Gerhardt, University of North Carolina.

"Put simply, a candidate for president should resist foreign interference in our elections, not demand it. If we are to keep faith with the Constitution and our Republic, President Trump must be held to account." -- Pamela Karlan, Stanford Law School.

We have no idea what kompromat Trumpers might have on the fourth witness, George Washington University Law School "libertarian" Jonathan Turley, who went off the deep end sometime during the Obama Administration, and was the Republicans' only (very lame) witness.
