While Chief Justice, Roberts has voted with those authoritarian forces who want to tilt the electoral playing field in favor of Rethuglican rule-by-the-minority, while mouthing the usual platitudes, as he did with his annual year-end "message." Siding with the plutocrats, multinational companies and theocrats, not democracy, is his record. So "taking democracy for granted" is something Roberts himself has taught us not to do, through his own actions on the Supreme Court to disenfranchise voters.
