After yesterday's truncated, 20- minute COVID-19 pep rally where virus-friendly demagogue and pathological liar Donald "COVID Donnie" Trump left without answering questions, the speculation is that marathon press "briefings" are a thing of the past. One reason is clearly Trump's dangerous and unhinged suggestion on Thursday that the injection of disinfectant into the body could kill the virus, forcing his own medical team and the makers of disinfectants to tell people not to do that under any circumstances. He was universally ridiculed and shamed for that idiocy, which he later lied about and said was meant as "sarcasm."
We're skeptical about Trump ending these Nuremberg rally substitutes, because malignant narcissists can't stay away from the cameras and mic for long to lie and brag about themselves, and to vent their rage at the media and pass blame to others.
BONUS: The WaPo reports that the White (Supremacist) House is blaming Department of Homeland Security suck up William Bryan for "confusing" Trump about internal disinfectant use and UV light inside the body. He wasn't "confused," he seized upon something he could happy-talk to his cult about, like hydroxychloroquine and other "magic" cures. Plus, it's been reported that the dolt got a letter from a crank extolling the virtues of bleaching one's innards several days before the Thursday debacle. Or, maybe he got the idea from The Onion.
BONUS II: Meanwhile, 20 world leaders are coordinating cooperation on developing a coronavirus vaccine and on research. COVID Donnie wasn't involved.

What can you said, that hasn't been said by thousands of others? We're living in a surreal reality that no sane fiction writer could have ever conceived.
ReplyDeleteBeach Bum -- Sadly, true and surreal.
ReplyDeleteI saw the briefing on Friday and was shocked when it ended abruptly. But I was thrilled. Trump was subdues as he haltingly (as usual) read the information sheet, handed off a few questions to his scientist-du-jour, then left the lectern. hmm
ReplyDeleteI've heard the new reports that he will either be shortening his sessions or reducing the number of them or both, and that is great news. Since he will never admit when he's wrong, and that's always, he can't whitewash that last insane brief. Reporters will bring it up at the next opportunity, so he's going to need a better excuse than “sarcasm”. And he's a coward, so the growing number of lives lost to the virus are making it impossible for him to avoid talking about them.
The less I see of him, the better. While I must concede that his massive fail on the disinfectant has been a bonus for making people realize what an idiot he is, he's actually a danger. And he's already frustrated about being stuck in the White House, missing golf, missing rallies, so who knows when he explodes?
