The Song Of An Eternal Morning

This weekend, we finally heard one of our favorite bird calls after a too- long hiatus: the song of the male wood thrush.  Henry David Thoreau wrote of the wood thrush,

"This is the only bird whose note affects me like music. It lifts and exhilarates me. It is inspiring. It changes all hours to an eternal morning."
Take a few moments to listen, relax, reflect and enjoy an eternal morning.

I love that! Here in SW Ohio we do have thrushes and we also have a species of Southern Wren who seem to be migrating farther north. I can't recall hearing their song until the last few years, and once I did, I looked for the bird, checked my book, and there it was. We have a pair of cardinals, man and wife, who live in our yard and I love their cheery greetings, also.

Hoping climate change doesn't destroy our feathered friends.

donnah -- the wood thrush song is one I remember from childhood summers growing up in an idyllic wooded area. I could listen to it all day.
