Yesterday, Federal District Judge Lorna Schofield ruled that a class action lawsuit alleging fraud, false advertising and unfair competition against the Trump crime family may proceed, brushing aside a request for a stay by Trump's lawyers. The suit specifically names pathological liar and con artist Donald "Don The Con" Trump, and his offspring Greasy Don, Jr., dopey Eric, and daddy's little fantasy Ivanka as co-defendents, alleging that through their profitable promotion of "multi-level" marketing scammer ACN, they engaged in fraud:
"Trump's relationship with ACN is said to have begun in the mid-2000s, continuing until just before he began campaigning for president. The lawsuit was originally filed in October 2018, alleging that the Trumps never disclosed their relationship with ACN as they made millions by falsely claiming that vulnerable investors would have a 'reasonable probability of success' if they spent hundreds of dollars or more to join the scheme.
'The Trumps conned each of these victims into giving up hundreds or thousands of dollars—losses that many experienced as a devastating and life-altering,' the lawsuit claims. 'Surely the Trumps dismissed these amounts (and the lives they wrecked) as trivial. But by defrauding so many for so long, the Trumps made millions.'" (our emphasis)We'll see how the case proceeds, keeping in mind that Trump will spend whatever it takes in lawyers fees to escape justice. But he's fighting on so many battlefields -- the release of his tax and financial records, his bribery / emoluments case, rape victim E. Jean Carroll's push for Trump's DNA sample, etc. -- his lawyers can only cover so much ground for a career con man and his crime family.
