SCOTUS To Gun Nuts: Go Away
The Supreme Court decided not to hear several cases involving an expansion of gun "rights" and will likely take them up in their next term in the fall. The cases challenged several existing State laws restricting carrying guns in public, Massachusetts' ban on some semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines, and other cases that would have overturned State gun safety laws.
Nine out of ten of the petitions were denied without comment, with one involving New Jersey's restrictions on "open carry" of guns drawing an opinion by right-wing Justices Thomas and Kavanaugh complaining that the Court was delaying a decision on the case.
It's a temporary victory, but it keeps gun safety laws in several states intact for now until the next assault by the gun lobby and their minions.
