The 2020 Rethuglican convention was supposed to be a lavish coronation for their cult leader, malignant narcissist and autocrat wannabe Donald "Bunker Boy" Trump. The convention's venue, the city of Charlotte, NC, was picked two years ago, since they were the only credible venue to accept. The coronavirus has disrupted the plans of both parties for normal, full-scale conventions, but the Dems are looking at creative solutions, perhaps a largely virtual convention, that put people's health first. Not so with Trump and his slavish Rethuglican National Committee (RNC). He's effectively derailed his own party's convention.
First, Trump threatened to pull the convention that was supposed to provide him with a place full of screaming cultists, after North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, on the advice of his public health officials, imposed social distancing and event capacity requirements on the RNC. Now, he's reportedly looking to Florida to host the convention, despite indications that many delegates are reluctant to participate in a multi-day, packed event anywhere in August.
Wanting a full, crammed convention venue for several days, despite the pandemic, so he could soak up the adulation, shows Trump's dangerous narcissism and lack of concern for his own cult in full bloom.

My middle son lives in Charlotte and I'm thrilled that the convention was withdrawn. Imagine turning such a big city into a coronavirus hot spot. And the driving there is already chaotic; imagine adding a whole swarm of lousy Republicans. I know he's relieved.
FM -- It's a test of how far in the tank they are to risk their health. Of course, some have been taking Clorox for the virus, so never underestimate their stupidity.
donnah -- Good news for your son and your family. The influx of people from every state and territory into any city during a pandemic is utterly nuts. Good that Charlotte & Gov. Cooper have good sense and decency.
